about

I’m very excited and proud to present my new single, “Bridges Gone". Special thanks to Andrew Blair for giving me some late-stage production advice on this to really tie it together. Much appreciation to EmeraldFox for this single art that just fits the mood of the song perfectly. And my mood always haha.

As Andrew Blair said, “I think people need to listen to it at least twice. Because once you latch onto the catchy melodies...it’s infectious. If you just give a quick listen it won’t stick. It’s not background music.” He’s very right about that. That’s both the major asset and the major shortcoming of my stuff. It’s designed to slowly infect the listener and stay with them for a while. It’s not a quick fix. I hope you guys take the time to realize that.

Anyway, this song is about losing time, losing connections, losing bridges. It's about falling in pits that are hard to leave. It’s about how we’re sold toxic things, and that we can choose to sell pure things. It's mostly about wanting a good story to never end, yet also wanting new stories to come in.

Lyrics below:

lyrics

The noise in the words
The alleys and turns
Been enough of bridges gone to diseases
And they want to never pull you out
I know there’s a place for you into the doubting light
I am living fine
But I know how some would see the dying tree
That is living free
And I know how they would see its end

And there’s another thing coming to the gates
Coloring stormy days
Wondering where they went
And I know how they would see the end
And I know how the shield is forever but they don’t hear you anymore
Their water is rising and I am still finding that I can’t take what they have sold
Though my river is guiding me forward and I believe what I have sold on my own

I have loved when I shouldn’t have loved
Couldn’t have helped what I had needed to say
But my storybook is never-ending and not easy to part with

You believed that what’s real is forever
But you don’t feel that anymore
Between what you’re hearing and what they’re not saying
You can’t suppose what could unfold
There is after and there is before now
And I don’t know which one of those I behold

I have loved when I shouldn’t have loved
Couldn’t have helped what I had needed to say
But my storybook is never-ending and not easy to part with

I have loved what I shouldn’t have loved
Couldn’t have helped what I had needed to say
Though my narrative is hanging by a thread, and I wish it’d go

And there’s another thing coming to the gates
Coloring stormy days
Wondering where they went
And I know how they would see the end

I finally saw the pain coming from far enough away and I gotta say
That I’d like you to wait by the stone in the lake while I sail until you’re gone
Yeah I’d like you to wait by the stone in the lake while I sail until you’re gone
I would like you to wait by the stone in the lake while I sail until you’re gone
